Tanika is a postdoctoral researcher in the field of psychology, with an interest in using research skills and knowledge to contribute to the understanding of mental health and promotion of wellbeing. She studied and worked in the Emotional Wellbeing Lab at the University of Western Australia for several years before commencing her role at The Kids as Senior Research Officer.
Tanika’s PhD (completed in 2026) focused on the promotion of wellbeing in the presence of anxiety and depression by analysing how psychological strengths/resources relate to functional impairment from symptoms. Tanika’s previous research in the Emotional Wellbeing Lab investigated topics such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and affective disorders using a range of research designs, including ecological momentary assessment and psychophysiological measures. Her work at The Kids focuses on trauma-informed care in hospitals, with a primary focus on the Newborn Emergency Transport Service in WA.
